Seven communities are safer!

26.March 2024 Scandagra, an agricultural company, raised €10 000 with Estonian farmers to support the Rescue Union's project "AED in every volunteer rescue unit".

To date, the AEDs purchased from the donation have reached the communities and some of the volunteer rescue units have already received special first aid training from the Red Cross. An automated extracorporeal defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable resuscitation device used to revive a person in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.

As a result of the donation, life-saving capacity is now available in seven more volunteer rescue units: Koonga Voluntary Rescue Association, Rõngu Voluntary Rescue Association, Võsu Voluntary Fire Brigade, Kuusalu Voluntary Association, Kaberneeme Voluntary Land and Sea Rescue, Valjala Firemen and Türi Voluntary Fire Brigade.

According to Annaliisa Heinsalu, Scandagra's marketing specialist, the agricultural sector is dependent on the forces of nature and unforeseen events, where volunteers are often the first to respond to such emergencies. "The donation made is in recognition of the time and valuable efforts of the rescuers, which often go unnoticed but have an invaluable impact on the day-to-day functioning of our society," said Heinsalu.

Piia Kallas, head of the Estonian Rescue Association said that funding the AED project is an opportunity to save someone's life. "Scandagra's grateful donation will make seven regions across Estonia even safer. Experience so far has shown that AEDs are essential in providing a sense of security to the community.

The Estonian Rescue Association unites and represents voluntary rescue associations in Estonia. To date, 28 AEDs have been purchased for volunteer rescue teams with the support of donors. The development of life-saving capabilities continues with the support of Estonian citizens and private companies.
