Volunteers of the Technical Rescue Unit underwent flood rescue training over the weekend.
The Rescue 3 internationally certified training course, held twice in May this year, provides volunteer rescuers with the knowledge on how to rescue from rushing waters and flooding. Floods are an unpredictable disaster in Estonia, putting homes and people's safety at risk.
During the first responder level training, different techniques were learned on how to save lives while keeping in mind the safety of the rescuers themselves. In addition, the participants learnt about the different dangers that rescuers can face in swiftwaters and floods.
To date, more than 50 volunteer rescuers have completed the training, both in Estonia and Iceland, and are ready to support the people of Estonia in the event of flooding at any time.
The training was supported by the National Foundation of Civil Society.
