This time, the UA aid shipment arrived in Poltava, which is being constantly hit by rocket attacks. During the visit, we were given an insight into the work of rescuers working in Ukrainian cities close to the frontline. Last week, we delivered an aid consignment to the Poltava rescuers, consisting of rescuers' protective equipment, tools and an ATV vehicle with two trailers. Upon delivery of the consignment, we met with the head of the Poltava district of the Ukrainian Rescue Service, who described the situation in the towns near the front.
Poltava is located just little over 100km from the front line, supplying the city of Kharkiv as a rear area, and is therefore suffering from constant rocket attacks. While we were there, Russian troops fired rockets at a Poltava rescue service warehouse and a shopping centre, killing several and injuring dozens of civilians.
Protective clothing and tools for rescuers, sent with the support of Estonian donors, will help rescuers to carry out their work more safely and effectively. The donated ATVs will enable emergency managers to manage rescue operations more quickly and effectively.
In addition, we also visited the city of Kharkiv, where we helped deliver clothes to the Kharkiv orphanage. A town that is under daily attack from both artillery and rockets.
The Poltava rescuers are extremely grateful for the support of the people of Ukraine and send their sincere thanks to all the donors who continue to support Ukraine's freedom.
