Volunteer’s ABC

Everyone can become a voluntary rescuer

First of all, it doesn’t matter whether you are a full-grown adult or an underage youngster. Everyone can be engaged in voluntary rescuing in terms of awareness work. All you need is motivation and contact with your local voluntary rescue association.

Secondly, you can participate in call-outs and do some prevention work on home visits. For this, it is necessary to complete the initial training of voluntary rescuers or maritime rescuers and successfully pass the relevant test. Participation in courses is free of charge, requiring mostly decision-making and determination. However, an applicant for a national voluntary rescue certificate must comply with certain legislative criteria. If you don’t have contact with your local rescue association, inform us about this and we will help you create this contact.

Thirdly, you might want to create a commando of voluntary rescue, maritime rescue or special rescue in your community. Every Estonian citizen has the right to establish a non-profit organisation. The next step concerns the logic in creating a commando. For this, refer to the commando creating page.

In conclusion, everyone with a certain will and desire can participate in the promotion of voluntary rescue, maritime rescue and specialist rescue.
